Auction: Boston Collects, Feb 9, 2024
BOSTON, MA – Competitive bidding drove strong prices at Doyle's Boston Collects auction on February 9, 2024, sending the sale total over expectations. Held in Doyle's Boston gallery and livestreamed on Doyle.com, Boston Collects offered an exciting array of artwork, furniture, silver, Americana, folk art and jewelry from collections and estates in the New England area and beyond.
Highlighting the sale was a handsome leaping stag weathervane that achieved $12,800, far over its $5,000-8,000 estimate. Crafted from molded sheet copper and zinc, the late 19th century weathervane had a pleasingly weathered gilt surface. The rare form of a majestic leaping stag further heightened its appeal, as opposed to the more commonly found forms of horses, roosters, cows and other farm animals.
Consignments are currently being accepted for future auctions. We invite you to contact us for a complimentary auction evaluation. Our specialists are always available to discuss the sale of a single item or an entire collection.
