Height of shade 10 7/8 inches, width 26 3/4 inches.

Provenance:

Minna Rosenblatt Gallery, NYC, July 25, 1992.

Shade: appears to be in generally good, undamaged condition; there are some individual glass segments that have hairline cracks, however, there do not appear to be too many; there is no immediately observable indication of restoration or replacement to any of the individual glass segments; the shade appears to be essentially "in the round," i.e., it measures 26 3/4 inches across in one direction and 26 1/2 inches across in the opposite direction

Central Suspension Rod: appears to be in generally good, undamaged condition; it appears to retain its original electric light sockets; the paddle switches are marked WEBER; sockets were not tested, however, the fixture was in use prior to consignment; the patinated metal domed suspension cap with beaded trim appears to be original, there is white overpaint splatter on the cap, notably around the beaded trim; four link chains accompany this lot; the chains are comprised of circular shaped links; these suspension chains may or may not be original to Tiffany Studios

Height of Central Rod: approximately 31 inches

Tiffany Studios
Highlighting the sale was a group of lamps by Tiffany Studios that surpassed expectations. A rare circa 1910 Nasturtium Trellis chandelier realized $75,600, exceeding its $50,000-70,000; a circa 1910 Black-Eyed Susan table lamp estimated at $20,000-30,000 performed exceptionally well at $40,950; and a circa 1910-20 Linenfold table lamp estimated at $12,000-18,000 achieved $22,680.

Art Pottery
Also surpassing expectations at the sale was a group of art pottery by the Austrian-born British ceramicist Lucie Rie (1902-1995). Rie studied pottery at the Vienna Kunstgewerbeschule, an arts and crafts school associated with the Wiener Werkstatte. Fleeing Germany in 1938, she settled in London, where she lived and maintained a studio producing ceramics for the next fifty years. In 1946, she hired fellow emigree Hans Coper (1920-1981) as a studio assistant, and later as a partner in her studio.

The group of ceramics by Lucie Rie was highlighted by a brown glazed porcelain vase that achieved $20,160, far over its estimate of $8,000-12,000. Pottery by Hans Coper featured a circa 1960 stoneware vase that realized $28,350.
