Highlighting the sale was a cheerful holiday scene by Joseph Christian Leyendecker that achieved $170,100. Father Rushing Home with an Armload of Gifts served as the cover of The Saturday Evening Post on December 4, 1909. One of the most successful commercial artists of the early decades of the 20th century, Leyendecker created hundreds of covers for The Saturday Evening Post and Collier's Weekly, as well as illustrations for the iconic Arrow shirt advertisements.

Two charming winter scenes by folk artist Grandma (Anna Mary Robertson) Moses also found favor from bidders at the sale. Both dated 1943, the works depicted Over the River to Grandma's House, on Thanksgiven [sic] and The Day Before Christmas. They sold strongly amid competitive bidding for $119,700 and $31,500, respectively. The two works were acquired from Grandma Moses in 1943 and had descended in the family to the consignor.

A feature of the sale was property from the Collection of the Direct Descendants of Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney comprising sculptures by Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney and Western paintings, drawings and prints. Sculptor, art patron and collector Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney (1875-1942) founded the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York in 1931. Highlights from the collection included a watercolor by Alice Ravenel Huger Smith that sold for $15,120 and a maquette by Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney for the Titanic memorial that realized $12,600.
