Two illustrated books about European costumes and a collection of historical costume plates
. Comprising: [LITH. DE DELPECH and REMOND?]. [Costumes D'Italie]. [Paris: Lith. de Delpeche, circa 1820]. Contemporary purple calf, gilt. 13 1/4 x 10 1/4 inches (34 x 26 cm); 24 hand-colored lithographs, tissue guards. Worn, with front hinge detached, black cloth tape repairs to corners, spotting and occasional toning, bookplate of Josephine E. S. Porter, stamps, markings, remnants of spine label, and presentation label of The Free Library, New Haven; Together with: LAMÉSANGÈRE, PIERRE. Costumes des Femmes Françaises du XIIe au XXVIII Siècle. Paris: Librairie Charles Tallandier, 1900. Facsimile reproduction of the 1827 edition, printed from the same plates. Finely bound with gilt red Morocco over spine and corners and marbled paper boards, by P. Provost. [12] pp., with 66 hand-colored engraved plates and tissue guards with printed descriptions. Some rubbing and wear, contents lightly toned; and and: A binder of historical costume plates. [France: late 19th and early 20th century]. Approximately 120 plates, mostly colored, all housed in clear plastic sleeves in a blue leatherette three-ring binder. Light toning, some plates a bit spotted or soiled, some plates edgeworn, generally in good condition, the lot sold as is.
