A cabinet card inscribed by General William Tecumseh Sherman. A circa 1888 cabinet card with a mounted albumen photograph depicting Sherman seated in military dress, signed below the image "W.T. Sherman/General/1890" and inscribed on the verso "To James E. Taylor/with compliments of/W.T. Sherman/General/ New York June 21, 1890." The mount with the red imprint and stamp of photographer Napoleon Sarony dated 1888. 6 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches; framed. Repair to a break in one corner going through signature on recto but not verso, other repair to corners and a pinhole at head, possible strengthening to the last name on the recto, light dust soiling to the verso.
