DOPPELMAYR, JOHANN GABRIEL. A set of six celestial maps, comprising; Globi Coelestis in Tabulas Planas Redacti Pars I; Pars II; Pars III; Pars IV; Pars V; Pars VI. Nuremberg: Johann Baptist Homann, circa 1730 or later. Set of six engraved celestial charts with hand-coloring, each 21 x 24 inches, framed separately. Vertical central folds, paper rippling, visibly soiled with some spotting, light toning, and Pars 1 with a dampstain at the foot of the central fold, a few manuscript annotations, the set sold as is.
This is a complete set of six celestial maps by Doppelemayr. They depict the night sky on a gnomonic projection with, as per the title, "the fixed stars for the end of the year of Christ 1730 according to the rules of arithmetic and geometry."
