WINN, H. ROSEVEAR. The cruise of the "Angler", or, Three weeks off Hickory Island. Detroit, Michigan: [Privately published, printed by Winn and Hammond, 1886]. First edition, with a presentation letter to J.V. Dutton dated 1890 laid-in. Publisher's green cloth gilt. 9 1/2 x 7 1/2 inches (24 x 19 cm); (viii), 103, [1] pp., with a frontispiece portrait of Winn in nautical attire, a drawing of the vessel, and other illustrations and vignettes. About fine.
A charming and eminently cheerful account of sailing on the Detroit River, fishing and camping the while. Winn, who was the proprietor of the printing firm that produced this rather elegant book (always an advantage for a private publisher to own the printing works!) was an Englishman living in Detroit; he died in 1900 at the age of 47.
