An empty bookbinding, likely Spanish, 17th century. Heavy blind-stamped leather over wooden boards, covers with brass filigree cornerpieces, four ornamental circular bosses at corners and ornamental roundels in center, the one on the lower cover surrounded by two rows of studs, painted scrollwork in colors and gold (probably a later addition); the pastedown with vellum musical manuscript leaves. The binding now serves as a folder for five manuscript antiphonal leaves and a bifolium, various places, dates and sizes, some quite elaborate. Sold not subject to return.
