This is first substantial collection of judicial reports in the United States. Daniel Crommelin Verplanck was a United States Representative from New York. As a boy in 1771, he was the subject of a fine portrait by John Singleton Copley in which he holds a squirrel on a chain, one of Copley's most admired New York works. Evans 21914.
