Edinburgh: Archibald Constable and Company, 1822. First edition, plate volume only. Oblong in quarter modern dark blue morocco with dark blue cloth boards, gilt lettered spine. 10 1/2 x 14 inches (27 x 35.5 cm); title and 39 engraved plates by J. Swaine. Minor wear, spine lightly faded, contents lightly toned, intermittent foxing to plates, pale offsetting from plates, College to France stamps to title.

The plate volume of this important zoological work, the first comprehensive study of Indian fishes, where Hamilton gave scientific descriptions of 271 species and illustrated 97 of them. Nissen ZBI 1809.
