Thick volume of Maryland Session Laws, 1785-96
, in contemporary reverse sheep with red and black lettering labels to spine, housed in a cloth box. Commencing with Laws of Maryland, made and passed at a session of Assembly, begun and held at the city of Annapolis, on Monday the seventh of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty-five. Annapolis: Frederick Green, [1786]; and continuing with individual imprints of Laws of Maryland, each printed at Annapolis by Green, being those from November 1786, April & November 1787, May & November 1788, November 1789, November 1790, November 1791, April & November 1792, November 1793, November 1794, November 1795, and November 1796. The binding with a loss at head of spine, the covers detached and with torn endpapers, stamps to most title leaves and signatures of Charles Goldsborough, Jr., generally clean within but with some foxing, intermittent annotations, not fully collated and sold as is.
The signatures within this volume of Maryland law of the Federal Era are likely by Charles Goldsborough, a member of the Maryland Senate during this period and later governor of the state.
