Five works on smallpox and related subjects. Comprising MONRO, ALEXANDER. Observations on the Different Kinds of Small Pox, and Especially on That Which Sometimes Follows Vaccination... Edinburgh: Archibald Constable, 1818. First edition. Publisher's boards (rebacked). 8 3/4 x 5 1/2 inches (22.5 x 14 cm); vi, 281, [1], two hand-colored plates, text leaf. The binding rebacked with a new label (the original mounted to the front paste-down), author's name in ink to the head of the front cover; foxing to a few leaves at the beginning, and a few leaves wormed in the upper margin to the rear. An uncut copy; MEAD, RICHARD. A Discourse on the Small Pox and Measles ... To which is annexed, a Treatise on the same Diseases, by the celebrated Arabian Physician Abu-Beker Rhazes. London: J. Brindley, 1755. Second edition. Old calf, rebacked. 7 3/4 x 4 1/2 inches (19.5 x 12 cm); xvi, 204 pp. Covers worn, rebacked, internally some toning, excised portion at the head of the title; BELL, GEORGE. A Treatise on the Cow-Pox; Containing an Enumeration of the Principal Facts in the History of that Disease; the Method of Communicating the Infection by Inoculation... Edinburgh and London: Longman [etc.], 1807. Second edition. Publisher's boards (rebacked). 6 3/4 x 4 inches (17 x 10 cm); xii, 143, [1], three plates partially printed in color. Binding worn. uncut; JENNER, EDWARD. An Inquiry into the Causes and Effects of the Variolae Vaccinae, a Disease Discovered in some of the Western Countries of England, Particularly Gloucestershire, and Known by the Name of The Cow Pox. Sydney: Thomas Richards, Government Printer, 1884. First Australian edition. Three-quarters leather, marbled sides. 10 3/8 x 8 1/4 inches (27cm x 22cm); [ii], v, 184 pages, 4 color plates. Light wear; and the 1923 Milan reprint of the 1798 edition of Jenner. Publisher's boards. Some wear and fading.
