Printed document being an act from the Second Congress to "authorize the adjustment of a claim of Joseph Henderson against the United States" and allowing him a salary of $100 per year for his service as paymaster to the Navy between 1778-82. Signed in ink "Th Jefferson" as Secretary of State at footer and signed in print by George Washington, John Adams and Jonathan Trumbull. 6 1/2 x 7 3/4 inches (17 x 20.5 cm). A small engraving of Jefferson affixed to corner, one old repair to verso and some browning to fold at margin, docketing and one ink notation, the left margin slightly trimmed, the document tipped to an old Parke Bernet folder with original 1946 invoice laid in.
