[MASSACHUSETTS - FEDERAL]
Group of Massachusetts Resolves, 1789-1806
, 20 volumes in 20th century cloth, commencing with Resolves of the General Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Begun and held at Boston, in the county of Suffolk, on Wednesday the twenty-seventh day of May, anno domini, 1789. Boston: Adams and Nourse, 1789. This volume with general title, uncut in original wrappers, 42 pp., Evans 21952, this work completed in the next volume, paginated 43-93 and with index. The subsequent volumes each with individual title pages and separate pagination, the imprint changing to Boston: Thomas Adams in 1790 and later Young and Minns. Each a folio, sizes vary, largest 13 1/2 x 8 inches (34 x 20 cm). Two volumes signed by Caleb Strong then Governor of the state, stamps, some minor wear or markings, includes uncut copies, some sections trimmed close, not fully collated and sold as is.
An interesting run of Federal-era resolves, including a printing of Washington's message declining to seek re-election and others upon his death in 1799. The lot twenty volumes.
