Contemporary calf spine, marbled paper boards. 21 1/2 x 15 inches; Title page, 13 mostly double-page engraved maps, hand-colored in outline. The binding is worn and defective, lacks spine, boards detached, some maps loose, edge tears to the title, soiling, staining, and uneven toning to contents, ownership inscription on the title page, the atlas is complete with all maps called for, but sold as is; Together with, Geological Ordinance Survey of Great Britain. No. LVII N.E. Engraved map, hand-colored in purple and yellow with gold highlights, laid in to the atlas. Light soiling and toning, some edge tears; and WILKINSON. R. An Accurate map of Hindoostan. Hand-colored engraved map pasted to rear pastedown. Worn.
This English edition of D'Anville's atlas of ancient geography includes an undated paper overlay stating that the publishers are Laurie and Whittle, which indicates that it was published shortly after the death of their employer, Robert Sayer, in 1794.
