Costume design for the original 1980 production of the musical 42nd St. For the number Dames!, a design for one of the chorines (not identified). Thin artist's board, 23 x 14 1/2 inches (59 x 36.5 cm), with a full rendering in watercolor over pencil outline of the character in an elaborate full red gown with train. There is a small pencilled detail of the rear of the costume (l.l.). Signed l.r., with the show, the number etc. Some minor finger soiling to the blank areas of the sheet.
An exceptional artwork for this classic Broadway musical. Her designs earned Aldredge the 1981 Drama Desk Award, as well as a Tony nomination.
