After having turned Diego Rivera down for the opportunity to sit for a portrait, Irving Berlin later commissioned Rivera to create the cover art for the sheet music to his song In Acapulco. The artwork was never published, and remained with the Berlin family.

Sheet is cut unevenly along the lower edge. Pinholes at all four corners, with several additional pinholes along extreme edges of sheet. A faint scrape at foot of figure at lower left. Reverse of sheet shows old paper tape. Reverse of sheet is toned; toning not apparent on face of the work. No signs of restoration under UV inspection.
