Ink stamp and number to title, trimmed close at places, contemporary ink notation to first leaf noting the rejection of this constitution; Together with Journal of the Convention of the State of Missouri... Jefferson City: James Lusk, 1845. First edition. Later cloth backed boards. 366 pp., 75 pp. appendix. Stamps of Missouri Historical Society and others to title, old dampstains.
A very rare constitution which was proposed but rejected by the state. At the time of the Missouri imprints survey only one copy was known; WorldCat now reports ten institutional copies. The 1845 Convention Journal is equally rare. Missouri Imprints 481 (Constitution) & 447 (Journal). The lot two volumes.
