Document signed. Washington: 1 August 1864. Engraved document on vellum accomplished in manuscript, with blue wafer seal, docketing in red ink to upper margin by E. D. Townsend, signed by Lincoln as President and countersigned by Edward Stanton as Secretary of War. The document appoints Barzillai J. Inman as Second Lieutenant in the Veteran Reserve Corps. 19 1/4 x 15 3/4 inches (50 x 40.5 cm). Usual folds, a few very minor stains in margin, somewhat faded, laid down to card.
We find records of Inman in his post with the 11th Regiment Veteran Reserve Corps as of March 9, 1864. He was discharged December 16, 1865.
