NEW YORK, NY -- Doyle will present an auction of Summer Impressions: Fine Prints & Works on Paper on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at 11am. This exciting new auction category showcases a wide range of affordable fine prints, watercolors and drawings spanning the late 19th through 20th centuries. Add to an existing collection or begin a new one!
Works from The Collection of the Artist Ernest Crichlow
Featured in the sale are five prints by African American artist Ernest Crichlow (1914-2005), known for his portrayals of African American life that explore themes of family, community, resilience and racial equality. Born in Brooklyn, Crichlow studied at the Art Students League and developed developed a realistic style marked by empathy and social awareness. In 1969, he co-founded the Cinque Gallery with fellow artists Romare Bearden and Norman Lewis to promote greater exhibition opportunities for Black artists. Additional prints and orginal paintings by Ernest Crichlow from his collection will be offered in select sales this Fall. (View lots in July 22 sale)
