Bernhardt Wall's scarce set of etchings of Greenwich Village, "The Montmartre of America"

[NEW YORK CITY - ILLUSTRATIONS]

WALL, BERNHARDT. Greenwich Village. Types, Tenements & Temples. New York: [privately printed and published by the artist, circa 1947]. Signed and inscribed on the front free endpaper, "copy no. 6 [from an edition of 50], third state, etched, printed, and bound by Bernhardt Wall." Original black cloth spine, drab paper over boards, with etched pictorial title label pasted to the front board. 10 1/2 x 7 1/2 inches (26.5 x 19 cm); entirely engraved, with a series of 24 etched plates, printed in black, brown, and sepia colored inks, under tissue guards. Light wear to extremities, head of spine crushed, some minor bubbling to the cloth, boards with very mild rubbing and soiling; contents are generally clean, with some soft rippling to leaves and guards, and remnants of glue in the gutter adjacent to the recto of the rear free endpaper.

Bidding in the timed online auction will open on July 24 and close on August 7 beginning at 10am. Lots will close sequentially, one lot per minute, with a soft close. Should any bids be placed in the final minute, bidding will remain open on that lot for three (3) additional minutes.
