Post-War & Contemporary Art

  • Auction of Post-War & Contemporary Art on November 15, 2023
  • Strong Results for Works by Friedel Dzubas, Tomas Sanchez and Manolo Valdes
  • Consignments Are Currently Being Accepted for Future Auctions

NEW YORK, NY -- Doyle's November 15, 2024 auction featured a number of stellar lots, with strong prices achieved for emerging Contemporary artists and well-known mainstays alike. Three of the works that broke six figures in the sale each speak to what the market is currently seeking: appropriately estimated works by in-demand artists, often with a global appeal.

The fourth highest price ever achieved at auction for the artist, Vilente Morning by Friedel Dzubas is an excellent example of the artist's Color Field paintings, which continue to grow in popularity. The success of Tomas Sanchez' 1987 work Orilla exemplifies the strength of the Latin Art market, as well as its ever-expanding base of worldwide collectors. Finally, Medusa by Manolo Valdes saw great interest, given the great scale and quality of the work itself, in addition to a well balanced estimate.

As we traverse the ever-changing art market, some things are always true: representative works by widely-collected artists, when estimated appropriately, often outperform the market and achieve exceptional results.
