Milan Tessler joined Doyle in 2017 and is a Fine Art Specialist and appraiser. With broad cross-category expertise, he appraises paintings, drawings, and sculpture spanning a wide range of periods, schools, and collecting categories for both auction consignments and fair market valuations.
In addition to his general Fine Art practice, Milan is Doyle's lead specialist for Russian Art, overseeing the department's Russian Art sales and advising clients on Russian paintings and works of art. He is also the lead specialist for the popular Doyle + Design auction category, overseeing the research, cataloguing, catalogue production, photography, and marketing of artworks to Doyle's extensive global network of collectors across multiple sales each year.
Throughout his career at Doyle, Milan has managed a significant number of the Fine Art department's authentication projects, coordinating with scholars, artists' estates, foundations, and authentication committees while conducting provenance and literature research to support attribution.
Milan began at Doyle as an Administrator in the Paintings Department and has advanced through several roles, including Registrar and Cataloger, giving him comprehensive experience across all aspects of the auction process. Prior to joining Doyle, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Russian Studies and History from McGill University and worked in London with several cultural organizations promoting Russian art.
